The Medi-Spa is an unexpected find in a property of this size and altitude, with ultra high-end treatments ranging from Microneedling, HydraFacials, Biologique Recherche, Stendo, and Yashi Dome machines to dual milk baths and hay beds. The in-house chef creates specialties both traditional and innovative, combining textures and flavours which sublime the palate, using the freshest local produce to captivate the hearts of the culinary connoisseur. A multitude of activities are also on hand on the private 1 hectare of land, including an educational farm, tree climbing course with zipline, tubing, archery to name but a few.

Access to the area is organised from le Villard (les Allues) by the Refuge’s teams via a shuttle system, geared to cross the snowy forest paths. As soon as guests arrive, they are amazed by the ever-present wildlife and flora.

Refuge de la Traye’s medi-spa advocates harmony between body and mind, encompassing the spirit of the mountains.

Since its opening, Refuge de la Traye has combined exclusive technologies and non-invasive medical devices, targeting specific needs and concerns. Thus equipped, the establishment assures physical recovery for the more athletic as well as moments of relaxation for the whole family. These unique and unexpected services at altitude are provided by a trained and certified team, which tailor their sessions to the needs of each individual.

New Exceptional Treatments
As the center for wellness and beauty in the mountains, Refuge de la Traye has added new innovative treatments and massages to its offering. The HydraFacial and Vivace Microneedling facials are among the most popular skin treatments. In addition, treatments are being developed in collaboration with the brands Verso and Biologique Recherche as of this winter.

These treatments can be combined with other existing services: LED light therapy with the Modsleds treatments, Japanese sauna Iyashi Dôme, a specialist in infratherapy, water massage with the Wellsystem therapy concept, and rehabilitation with the Stendo device.

The Savoie reinterpreted

At “La Table”, Chef Dominique Nouvian prepares unique and warming cuisine composed of 3 starters and 3 main courses as well as an assortment of patisseries. He brings the mountain spirit to life by reinterpreting traditional dishes such as hay-aged raclette or crozet risotto with baby vegetables, topped with a grated Beaufort cheese.

Tailor-made menus

Also on the menu: duck foie gras terrine, corner jelly and toasted farmhouse bread, beef and poultry pierrade served with a gratin dauphinois or Arctic char in ballotine served with a slice of spicy roasted squash.

Balanced and delicately refined, the recipes will appeal to young and old food enthusiasts alike. Created from fresh, local produces, they change the menu regularly during the season and are happy to adapt to suit your palate.

Every day, the chef meets with his guests to discuss the menu and offer tailor-made dishes. Anchored in the DNA of the Refuge, this highly personalised approach reinforces the feeling of a privileged art of living and receiving, also felt within the dining area.

Comfortably settled in the dining room which was imagined as a piano- bar, near the fireplace and the open planned lounge, guests feel at home. Through the windows that run along the façade, the eye is drawn to the amazing panoramic views that extend onto the terrace, overlooking the surrounding mountain peaks.

A fine dining destination

Refuge de la Traye has created additional tasting experiences, notably at «La Ferme à Fromage» a space for private gatherings serving savoyard specialities. In the charming, antique setting, traditional raclette and fondue are prepared on an authentic wood stove… The flavours of the mountains are revealed; all the senses are awakened. Wine, cheese and charcuterie tastings can also be arranged in the wine cellar upon request.

Exceptional products, such as honey harvested from the beehives on the domain or local and organic herbal teas with regional flavours are also available for sale at La Fabrique boutique or to taste at the spa.

Remembering beautiful moments

No age limit to dream

Refuge de la Traye is also ideally set up for children, providing complete care for the duration of the stay. Beyond the bliss of the mountains, they will be able to enjoy numerous workshops created by a dedicated team, which are available throughout the seasons (cooking classes, introduction to pottery, etc.) or have fun in the Refuge’s games room, where board games, consoles and arcades await them.

Refuge de la Traye is a large holiday home that can be fully privatised on a nightly or weekly basis. Easily becoming an exclusive home from home property for up to 15 people. Attentive staff provide a bespoke hospitality service with a wide range of activities to ensure guests will enjoy a memorable stay. In addition, the Refuge can stage a variety of private events in an intimate setting and houses a chapel for christenings and weddings.
