An Italian opera event named in honor of composer Giuseppe Verdi is called the Festival Verdi. The Festival, which was founded in 1989, ran until 1993. It was revived in 2001 in conjunction with the celebrations marking Giuseppe Verdi's 100th birthday, and it is now carried out annually, first in the late luteal year. Since 2007, it has taken place on October 15th, the composer's birth month. Not only are the Verdi operas performed over the course of a month at various theaters, but there are also concerts, recitals, exhibitions, conferences, and lectures about the Italian musician. Numerous well-known performers have been involved with the festival from the beginning, including Bruno Bartoletti, Riccardo Chailly, Daniele Gatti, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Muti, Daniel Oren, Antonio Pappano, and Yuri Temirkanov.
