Unveiling Alfa Romeo Racing 2019

Getting Closer to Alfa Romeo Racing – New name, new drivers, new car.

GlobeAir presents Alfa Romeo Racing 2019

With the 2019 F1 World Championship shortly upon us, we are bringing you the latest from Alfa Romeo Racing – formerly Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team – after they unveiled the new C38 ahead of the first day of pre-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain last Monday. In the F1 calendar, February is the month of releases. This year is no different. Over the past few weeks, all the racing teams, one after the other, have shown off their cars building up the excitement before the beginning of the Championship. As Alfa Romeo Racing's Official Partner, we too have followed the launches bringing you the latest from our partner racing team.

Wrapping up the latest from Alfa Romeo Racing

Teams are warming up the engines. With the Australian GP scheduled for March 15th, the first official race of the 2019 F1 season is just around the corner. But Alfa Romeo Racing has long been making headlines.

Starting last year, the Swiss team made headways scoring points in seven of the final nine races finishing eighth in the standings – compared to their 10th position in the previous two years. Räikkönen – who has joined the team during the past offseason – has made a legendary comeback after 18 years away from the team, and is committed to bringing Alfa Romeo Racing to the next level together with teammate Antonio Giovinazzi. The pilot, originally from Puglia (Italy) drove for Sauber in two 2017 races and is now ready to prove his talent alongside the iconic Alfa Romeo brand.

The 2019 challenger C38

Before the official release of the new 2019 challenger C38, the team had already created a lot of buzz at Fiorano circuit last February 14th. There, Räikkönen completed 33 laps putting the first kilometres on a Valentine-themed C38 featuring Alfa Romeo’s iconic symbol – the clover flower. Today, the confirmed C38 lets go of any "love" pattern to present itself in a more traditional red-white colour scheme. The newly unveiled 2019 C38 has new and revamped front wings, an extremely wide upper flap and a Ferrari engine.

" The livery brings out last year’s features in a stronger and more edgy way. We are proud to display the logos of our partners, who have joined us in the scope of the expansion of our commercial activities, on these cars." – Frédéric Vasseur, CEO & Team Principal

The newly-released car has spurred sentiments of excitement from all team members with Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur including some words for Alfa Romeo Racing's partners like GlobeAir.

From Sauber to Alfa Romeo Racing

Entering the 2019 Formula 1 World Championship with the team name Alfa Romeo Racing, the team announced the name change on February 1st strengthening the partnership that was initiated with Alfa Romeo back in 2018. The structure, ownership and management, on the other hand, experience no changes. The racing team aims to leverage Alfa Romeo’s and Sauber Engineering's technical expertise to race under one of the most evocative and historical names in Formula 1.
