One of the oldest English horse races is the Derby Stakes, sometimes known as The Derby or the Epsom Derby. It is one of the most popular Group-1 races for 3-year-old kids and teenagers in the world and lasts over 2423 meters. Similar races are held in many nations, including the Irish Derby, the German Derby, the Kentucky Derby in the United States, and the Prix du Jockey Club in France. See the main article Derby for more information. The name also appears in team sports like local derby. The Derby is the name of many horse sports events. One of the biggest sporting events in the United Kingdom is the Epsom Derby, which is broadcast on televisions around the world. Every year in June, the Derby is held in Epsom at the Epsom Downs Racetrack. The Epsom Derby is the second leg of the British Triple Crown. It will be run immediately following the 2000 Guineas and before the St. Leger. Winners of the Epsom Derby frequently compete in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes in July before moving on to the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe in France in October.
