The Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is a 2.400-meter gallop race for adults and children aged three and older. Aside from the Epsom Derby and the Kentucky Derby, the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is one of the most prestigious international horse races in its class. Officially, even though other gallop races are now vying for the title, it is still regarded as the world championship in the sport. Since October 3rd, 1920, the race has always been held on the first Sunday in October at the Paris Pferderennbahn Longchamp in the Bois de Boulogne. The race was introduced to celebrate the end of World War One.
