At 4pm, the 32-year-old landed in a GlobeAir private jet at the Linz airport and was greeted by tournament director Sandra Reichel and tournament ambassador Barbara Schett with 39 white roses–with each rose standing for one of her WTA tournament victories.
"I'm so sorry I cannot play this time. We really tried everything," said Maria Sharapova right after landing.
During her interview, Ms Sharapova added she felt moved to be once again there–at the Linz airport–where she had started a journey towards her legendary win back in 2006. GlobeAir was delighted to be the witness of such an emotional moment. About the private jet flight, the tennis star reported to have enjoyed her ride from Nice to Linz and added that it was the speed to impress her the most.
Maria Sharapova was scheduled to join the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open– tournament which is, among others, sponsored this year by GlobeAir. To reach the tournament, Ms Sharapova was supposed to fly again on a GlobeAir private jet, if only it wasn't for a sudden cold which has prevented her from travelling.
The whole GlobeAir DreamTeam wishes her well and hopes to see her on board again soon.
