About the "Streif"

"One hell of a ride". This is how the downhill rider Daron Rahlves once called the "Streif", one of the most famous and dangerous ski race tracks in the world. Since 1931, the Hahnenkamm race has brought the fastest and bravest skiers to Kitzbühel. Downhill, Super G and Slalom... January 24, 2020 will be that time of year again– are you ready?

Weisswurstparty "White sausage party" | 24/01/2020

The world's best party according to Arnold Schwarzenegger

Even white sausages have a touch of glamor when they are served in Kitzbühel. But only when they are prepared with champagne at the legendary Stanglwirt's Weißwurst in the town of Going. According to Arnold Schwarzenegger, this is "The best party held in the best hotel in the world". The ones who can get hold of one of the approximately 2,500 coveted tickets could, in the midst of many familiar faces, dance in the Lipizzaner riding hall to trendy live acts. From traditional to rock music, with dirndls or lederhosen, you will be ready to swing in perfect Tyrolean style.

Kitz'n'Glamour party | 24/01/2020

Another coveted hotspot of the Hahnenkamm race is the Kitz'n'Glamour party. The Club Take Five entices with a pompously staged Red Carpet Show, trendy scene DJs and lots of VIPs, stars and starlets to celebrate until the early morning.

Hahnenkammabfahrt | 25/01/2020

Witness skiers jump up to 80 meters over the so called "mousetrap" - with 85 percent gradient, this is the Streif's steepest part. It's incredible to think that the athletes can reach speeds of up to 140 km / h just before the final jump and could easily keep up with cars on a motorway. The Streif requires the highest concentration and a good deal of courage.

When swinging into the finish area in front of about 45,000 cheering spectators, the relief is written on the athletes' faces. Incidentally, the track record has been in place since 1997 and was set by the Austrian Fritz Strobl at 1: 51.58. The award ceremony in the evening includes spectacular fireworks and a lot of emotions.

Kitz Charity Trophy | 25/01/2020

The Kitz Charity Trophy combines fun with a good cause. The charity collects money for mountain farmers in distress and was able to raise around 160,000 euros in 2019 alone. The event takes place after the end of the Hahnenkamm downhill.

Rosis Schnitzelparty | 25/01/2020

There is not a more traditional epilogue to the Hahnenkamm descent than a meal at Rosi Schipflinger's Sonnbergstuben. Here, guests are spoiled with Austrian culinary delights––"frittattensuppe", "Wiener Schnitzel" and "Kaiserschmarrn"–– while "the singing hostess" garnishes their plates. Is there any better way to make this 1,200-meters-above-the-sea location even more unique?

Hahnenkammparty at "The Londoner" | 25/01/2020

Where do the downhill winners really celebrate their triumph after their work is done? Sooner or later they are usually to be found in Kitzbühel's cult pub "The Londoner" located in the heart of Kitzbühel. Make a visit to the pub to see some of the sky champions exhibiting their bartender skills. Admissions to the pub are on a "first come, first served" basis so be mindful to arrive early enough; drink shoulder to shoulder with some of the Hahnenkamm's race heroes.

The Kitz-Race-Club is perfect to savour a delicious breakfast during the slalom qualifications on the Ganslernhang. The well-heated luxury tent with parquet floor and chandelier right next to the Streif's finishing area is where all celebrities meet during the race weekend. Taste meals from all over the world, network and, of course, celebrate.
