About this edition of the festival
“Variations on the theme of music”
The apparently arbitrary motto is condensed into four events of highly contrasting character. The pianist Maria Radutu, distinguished by her idiosyncratic search for new ways of programming, plays and explains in her solo evening “PHOENIX” (June 3, 2021, The Chedi Andermatt) works from four centuries with Liszt's “Mephisto Waltz No. 1” as pianistic climax.
The soprano Marisol Montalvo, a leading interpreter of contemporary music in particular, who shone in the title role of Alban Berg's opera “Lulu” in Basel, portrays the ups and downs of the profession of a singer in the one-woman show "Mad Scene" and is accompanied by Werner Lemberg in arias of various styles (June 5, 2021, Andermatt Concert Hall).
Between the performances of the two women on June 4, 2021, there will be a “classical” concert in a spiritual ambience: Emmanuel Tjeknavorian, who had a sensational career as a violinist and is now at the beginning of an equally great career as a conductor, will lead the magnificent church of the Benedictine monastery Disentis works by Georg Friedrich Händel, Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The festival, which is again under the artistic direction of Clemens Hellsberg, will be complemented by the continuation of the collaboration with the "Lang Lang International Music Foundation" (June 2, 2021): The Pühringer family, always striving to promote young people, again offers two students the opportunity to make a representative appearance in the Park Hotel Vitznau.
