Up Helly Aa Fire
Along with the Shetland Folk Festival, the Fest Up Helly Aa marks the annual high point of environmental preservation on the Shetland Islands. Every year on the last Tuesday in January, a whole day is dedicated to dressing up, having a bonfire, drinking, and celebrating—much like the Rhenish Rosemontag.
