Jet off to Formula 1
The Big Prize of Belgium has been a part of the Formula One World Championship since 1950, having been first presented in 1925. The first Grand Prix of Belgium in the Formula One World Championship was held in 1950 at the racetrack Spa-Francorchamps near the city of Stavelot in the Ardennes, not far from Spa and Malmedy, and not far from the German border. There were 18 occasions where the Grand Prix was held up until 1970. The high-speed route with the long straightaways was abandoned in 1969 because it seemed unsafe and too fast. The previous to last Grand Prix on this variant took place in 1970. End of the 1970s saw the construction of a modified version that is capable of holding Formel-1 races once more since 1983.
