Since 1976, the Laurence Olivier Awards, often known as the Olivier Awards, have been given out annually in the United Kingdom. They rank as the highest honor in British theater and are comparable to the Tony Awards on Broadway in the United States. The award is named after the well-known British actor Laurence Olivier. The Society of London Theatre award will be given to theater productions that were seen in the London West End.
